It was reported in the Bulgarian press that both Easyjet and Ryanair have submitted flight schedules to Bulgaria in preparation for the 2007 EU accession when the airways will be opened up. This widely anticipated move from the world’s two largest low-cost carriers will signal a large shift in confidence towards Bulgaria and will fully qualify it as a major tourist destination. It is widely felt that once these two airlines entered the Bulgarian market that a flood of new tourists, who are looking for self-book rather than hotel package holidays, will choose Bulgaria as a value-for-money alternative as appose to more mature and expensive markets such as Spain and France. Once this report is fully confirmed in the British and Irish press then there should be a large increase in the number of property buyers expecting the higher occupancy rates that this move will deliver.
